“Clinical Reasoning: Survey of Teaching Methods, Integration, and Assessment in Entry-Level Physical Therapist Academic Education,” by Christensen N, Black L, Furze J, Huhn K, Vendrely A, and Wainwright S, was published online in Physical Therapy on September 8, 2016. Karen Huhn, PT, was awarded a Promotion of Doctoral Studies (PODS) II scholarship in 2008.
“Improving Exercise Performance With an Accelerometer-Based Smartphone App: A Randomized Controlled Trial,” by Bittel DC, Bittel AJ, Williams C, and Elazzazi A, was published in the American Journal of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation on September 8, 2016. Daniel C. Bittel, PT, DPT, was awarded a PODS I scholarship in 2015 and a PODS II in 2016. Adam J. Bittel, PT, DPT, was awarded a PODS II scholarship in 2016.
“Technology for Children With Brain Injury and Motor Disability: Executive Summary From Research Summit IV,” by Christy JB, Lobo MA, Bjornson K, Dusing SC, Field-Fote E, Gannotti M, Heathcock JC, O'Neil ME, and Rimmer JH, was published in Pediatric Physical Therapy (2016 Winter;28[4]:483–489). Jennifer B. Christy, PT, PhD, was awarded a Mary McMillan Doctoral Scholarship in 2001 and a PODS I scholarship in 2002. Michele A. Lobo, PT, PhD, was awarded a McMillan Scholarship in 2000, a PODS I scholarship in 2002, and PODS II scholarships in 2003 and 2004. Stacey C. Dusing, PT, PhD, was awarded a McMillan Scholarship in 2002, a PODS II scholarship in 2005, and a Pediatric Research Grant in 2013. Edelle C. Field-Fote, PT, PhD, was awarded a Doctorial Training Research Grant (DTRG) in 1994. Mary Gannotti, PT, PhD, was awarded a DTRG in 1996. Jill C. Heathcock, PT, PhD, was awarded a McMillan Scholarship in 2001, PODS I scholarships in 2002 and 2003, PODS II scholarships in 2004 and 2005, a Pediatric Research Grant in 2009, and the Pittsburgh-Marquette Challenge Research Grant in 2011. Margaret E. O'Neil, PT, PhD, MPH, was awarded a DTRG in 1997.
“Effect of Timing of Hip Extension Assistance During Loaded Walking With a Soft Exosuit,” by Ding Y, Panizzolo FA, Siviy C, Malcolm P, Galiana I, Holt KG, and Walsh CJ, was published in the Journal of NeuroEngineering and Rehabilitation (2016 October 3;13[1]:87). Kenneth G. Holt, PT, PhD, was awarded DTRGs in 1987, 1995, and 1996.

Farewell and Thanks to Outgoing SRC Members
The Foundation for Physical Therapy extends its sincerest thanks to outgoing members of the Scientific Review Committee (SRC): Mike Lewek, PT, PhD (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill) and Katrina Maluf, PT, PhD (San Diego State University). Ad hoc reviewer Jan Gwyer, PT, PhD (Duke University), is also departing the SRC. During their service, Gwyer, Lewek, and Maluf provided invaluable expertise and leadership; their knowledge and dedication will be missed during conferences and review sessions.
Now Accepting Postprofessional Doctoral Scholarship and Fellowship Applications
The Foundation is now accepting applications for the Promotion of Doctoral Studies (PODS) I and II scholarships and New Investigator Fellowship Training Initiative (NIFTI). Starting 2017, the NIFTI amount will be raised to $100,000, up from a maximum of $78,000.
