“Comparative Short-Term Safety of Bolus Versus Maintenance Iron Dosing in Hemodialysis Patients: A Replication Study,” by Freburger JK, Ellis AR, Kshirsagar AV, Wang L, and Brookhart MA, was published in BMC Nephrology (2014;15:154). Janet K. Freburger, PT, PhD, was awarded a Private Practice Research Grant in 2003.
“A Comparative Effectiveness Trial of Postoperative Management for Lumbar Spine Surgery: Changing Behavior Through Physical Therapy (CBPT) Study Protocol,” by Archer KR, Coronado RA, Haug CM, Vanston SW, Devin CJ, Fonnesbeck CJ, Aaronson OS, Cheng JS, Skolasky RL, Riley LH 3rd, and Wegener ST, was published in BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders (2014;15:325). Kristin R. Archer, PT, DPT, PhD, was awarded a Magistro Family Foundation Research Grant in 2011. Rogelio A. Coronado, PT, PhD, FAAOMPT, was awarded an Orthopaedic Research Grant in 2014. Archer's contributions to this research were supported in part by the Foundation.
“Pediatric Stroke and Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation: Methods for Rational Individualized Dose Optimization,” by Gillick BT, Kirton A, Carmel JB, Minhas P, and Bikson M, was published in Frontiers in Human Neuroscience (2014;8:739). Bernadette T. Gillick, PT, MSPT, PhD, was awarded Promotion of Doctoral Studies (PODS) II scholarships in 2009 and 2010 and a Magistro Family Foundation Research Grant in 2014.
“Predictors of Frontal Plane Knee Moments During Side-Step Cutting to 45 and 110 Degrees in Men and Women: Implications for Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injury,” by Sigward SM, Cesar GM, and Havens KL, was published online in the Clinical Journal of Sport Medicine on October 6, 2014. Susan M. Sigward, PT, PhD, was awarded a PODS I scholarship in 2001.
“Addressing Muscle Performance Impairments in Cerebral Palsy: Implications for Upper Extremity Resistance Training,” by Moreau NG and Gannotti ME, was published online in the Journal of Hand Therapy on August 30, 2014. Noelle G. Moreau, PT, PhD, was awarded a Mary McMillan Doctoral Scholarship in 2002. Mary E. Gannotti, PT, PhD, was awarded a Doctoral Training Research Grant in 1996.
“Impaired Limb Shortening Following Stroke: What's in a Name?,” by Little VL, McGuirk TE, and Patten C, was published online in PloS One on October 16, 2014. Virginia L. Little, PT, MSPT, PhD, was awarded a Florence P. Kendall Doctoral Scholarship in 2008 and PODS I scholarships in 2009 and 2010. Carolynn Patten, PT, PhD, was awarded Doctoral Training Research Grants in 1994, 1995, and 1996, and New Investigator Fellowship Training Initiatives (NIFTI) in 1998 and 1999.
“Implications of Practice Setting on Clinical Outcomes and Efficiency of Care in the Delivery of Physical Therapy Services,” by Childs JD, Harman JS, Rodeghero JR, Horn M, and George SZ, was published in the Journal of Orthopaedic and Sports Physical Therapy (2014;44:955–963). John D. Childs, PT, PhD, MBA, OCS, FAPTA, was awarded a PODS I scholarship in 2001 and a Marquette Challenge Research Grant in 2004. Maggie Horn, PT, DPT, MPH, PhD, was awarded a NIFTI in 2014. Steven Z. George, PT, PhD, was awarded a PODS I scholarship in 2000 and a PODS II scholarship in 2001.
“Rehabilitation of Meniscal Injury and Surgery,” by James T. Cavanaugh, PT, PhD, NCS, was published in the Journal of Knee Surgery (2014;27:459–478). Cavanaugh was awarded a PODS I scholarship in 2001.
“Patient Active Time During Therapy Sessions in Postacute Rehabilitation: Development and Validation of a New Measure,” by Host HH, Lang CE, Hildebrand MW, Zou D, Binder EF, Baum CM, Freedland KE, Morrow-Howell N, and Lenze EJ, was published in Physical & Occupational Therapy in Geriatrics (2014;32:169–178). Helen H. Host, PT, PhD, was awarded a Doctoral Training Research Grant in 1996. Catherine E. Lang, PT, PhD, was awarded a PODS I scholarship in 1999 and a PODS II scholarship in 2000.

Foundation Shout Outs
Anthony Delitto, PT, PhD, FAPTA (1997 CRC), Foundation alumnus, is part of an National Institutes of Health task force that recently announced a set of recommendations on research standards for chronic low back pain. Read more at: http://ptjournal.apta.org/content/95/2/e1.abstract.
Laura Miller, PT, DPT, PhD (2013 PODS II) completed her PhD in Biomedical Engineering at Northwestern University. She has accepted a postdoctoral fellowship position in the Department of Physical Therapy and Human Movement Sciences at Northwestern University under the mentorship of Dr C.J. Heckman and Dr Dario Farina.
Jessica Cassidy, PT, DPT, PhD (2012, 2013 PODS II), completed her PhD in Rehabilitation Science at the University Minnesota. She has accepted a postdoctoral fellowship position at the University of California, Irvine, under the mentorship of Dr Steven Cramer in the Department of Neurology.
