“Measuring Movement Symmetry Using Tibial-Mounted Accelerometers for People Recovering From Total Knee Arthroplasty,” by Christiansen CL, Bade MJ, Paxton RJ, and Stevens-Lapsley JE, was published in Clinical Biomechanics (2015;30:732–737). Cory L. Christiansen, PT, PhD, was awarded a Marquette Challenge Research Grant in 2011. Michael J. Bade, PT, PhD, FAAOMPT, OCS, was awarded a Florence P. Kendall Doctoral Scholarship in 2008, a Promotion of Doctoral Studies (PODS) I scholarship in 2010, and a PODS II scholarship in 2011. Jennifer E. Stevens-Lapsley, PT, MPT, PhD, was awarded a PODS I scholarship in 2000, a PODS II scholarship in 2001, and a Marquette Challenge Research Grant in 2007. The contributions of Christiansen and Bade to this research were supported in part by the Foundation.
“Implications of Early and Guideline Adherent Physical Therapy for Low Back Pain on Utilization and Costs,” by Childs JD, Fritz JM, Wu SS, Flynn TW, Wainner RS, Robertson EK, Kim FS, and George SZ, was published in BMC Health Services Research (2015;15:150). John D. Childs, PT, PhD, MBA, FAPTA, OCS, was awarded a PODS I scholarship in 2001 and a Marquette Challenge Research Grant in 2004. Julie M. Fritz, PT, PhD, FAPTA, was awarded an Orthopaedic Research Grant in 2002. Timothy W. Flynn, PT, PhD, FAAOMPT, OCS, was awarded a Doctoral Training Research Grant in 1996 and an Orthopaedic Research Grant in 2000. Stephen Z. George, PT, PhD, was awarded a PODS I scholarship in 2000 and a PODS II scholarship in 2001.
“Translating the Science Into Practice: Shaping Rehabilitation Practice to Enhance Recovery After Brain Damage,” by Winstein CJ and Kay DB, was published in Progress in Brain Research (2015;218:331–360). Carolee J. Winstein, PT, PhD, FAPTA, was awarded Doctoral Training Research Grants in 1986 and 1993 and a Clinical Research Network Grant in 2002.
“Test-Retest Reliability of the Neuromuscular Recovery Scale,” by Behrman AL, Velozo C, Suter S, Lorenz D, and Basso DM, was published in Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (2015;96:1375–1384). Andrea L. Behrman, PT, PhD, FAPTA, was awarded a Doctoral Training Research Grant in 1994 and a New Investigator Fellowship Training Initiative (NIFTI) in 1998.
“Association of Cognitive Domains With Postural Instability/Gait Disturbance in Parkinson's Disease,” by Kelly VE, Johnson CO, McGough EL, Shumway-Cook A, Horak FB, Chung KA, Espay AJ, Revilla FJ, Devoto J, Wood-Siverio C, Factor SA, Cholerton B, Edwards KL, Peterson AL, Quinn JF, Montine TJ, Zabetian CP, and Leverenz JB, was published in Parkinsonism & Related Disorders (2015;21:692–697). Valerie E. Kelly, PT, PhD, was awarded PODS II scholarships in 2001 and 2002. Anne Shumway-Cook, PT, PhD, FAPTA, was awarded Doctoral Training Research Grants in 1980, 1995, and 1996. Fay B. Horak, PT, PhD, was awarded a Doctoral Training Research Grant in 1989.
“OARSI Clinical Trials Recommendations: Design and Conduct of Clinical Trials of Rehabilitation Interventions for Osteoarthritis,” by Fitzgerald GK, Hinman RS, Zeni J Jr, Risberg MA, Snyder-Mackler L, and Bennell KL, was published in Osteoarthritis and Cartilage (2015;23:803–814). G. Kelley Fitzgerald, PT, PhD, FAPTA, was awarded Doctoral Training Research Grants in 1995 and 1997 and a Sports Physical Therapy Section Research Grant in 2000. Lynn Snyder-Mackler, PT, ScD, ATC, SCS, FAPTA, was awarded Doctoral Training Research Grants in 1988 and 1991.
“Quantifying Learning in Young Infants: Tracking Leg Actions During a Discovery-learning Task,” by Sargent B, Reimann H, Kubo M, and Fetters L, was published online in the Journal of Visualized Experiments on June 1, 2015. Barbara Sargent, PT, PhD, PCS, was awarded a PODS I scholarship in 2010 and a PODS II scholarship in 2011. Linda Fetters, PT, PhD, FAPTA, was awarded Doctoral Training Research Grants in 1981 and 1990.

They provided invaluable expertise and leadership during a period when the Foundation experienced an unprecedented surge in funding and application submission activity. Their knowledge and dedication will be missed during conferences and review sessions.

Congratulations
Foundation alumnus William Thompson, PT, DPT, PhD (2007 Kendall Doctoral Scholarship, 2009 and 2010 PODS II), was awarded $1.6 million by the Department of Defense to study how nonpharmacological treatment may benefit women with breast cancer who are also experiencing muscle weakness and bone loss.
Foundation alumna Bernadette Gillick, PT, PhD, MSPT (2009 and 2010 PODS II, 2014 Magistro Family Foundation Research Grant), was awarded a 2015 Fellowship to the NIH Randomized Behavioral Clinical Trials Summer Institute. Gillick also was selected to serve as an expert member of the NIH National Institute of Neurologic Disorders and Stroke/American Academy of Cerebral Palsy and Development Medicine working group, which was tasked with leading 2 initiatives: identifying common data elements for cerebral palsy and identifying meaningful outcome measures for cerebral palsy.
Foundation alumnus Ryan Marker, PT, DPT, PhD (2011 Kendall Doctoral Scholarship, 2013 PODS I, 2014 PODS II) completed his PhD in rehabilitation science at the University of Colorado, Denver, in August. He is now in a postdoctoral fellowship position in the Anschutz Health and Wellness Center at the University of Colorado under the mentorship of John Peters, PhD.
Foundation alumnus Rogelio Coronado, PT, PhD, FAAOMPT (2014 Orthopaedic Research Grant), received a grant from the Cervical Spine Research Society for his project entitled, “A Randomized Trial of Early Home Exercise Versus Usual Care After Anterior Decompression and Fusion for Degenerative Cervical Spine Conditions.”
