To the Editor: I was pleased to read the case report on “Use of Electromyographic Biofeedback During the Acute Phase of Spinal Cord Injury” in Physical Therapy (March 1982). Personal unpublished experiences while on the staff of the Spinal Cord Injury Service, Veterans Administration Medical Center, West Roxbury, MA, with application of Cyborg's EMG Biofeedback J33 (Cyborg Corporation, 55 Chapel Street, Newton, MA 02158) for patients during acute stage of spinal cord injury showed the instrument's value as an adjunct to daily bedside programs to improve joint range of motion and muscle strength. Its usefulness in muscle reeducation and improved awareness by patients for specific motor activity with subsequent psychological benefits was observed.
